New Moon-January 2022

New year, new moon. We're kicking off the new year in a big way with a new moon right out the gate on Sunday, January 2nd in the zodiac sign of Capricorn.

New moons are best known for their prompting of reflection, looking within, and making plans. It's fitting that this new moon comes at a time so close to the first day of the new year when most people are sitting down to plan out the year ahead and set their sights on what they want to accomplish.

Add to it that this new moon falls in the zodiac sign of Capricorn and we've got the ideal conditions for goal-setting, trip planning, or getting our ducks in a row. Capricorns are best known for being goal-oriented hard workers that know how to get the job done. Often motivated by money or obtainable rewards, Capricorns are career-focused and typically reach high levels of success relatively easily. This bodes well for everyone though, regardless of if you've got a heavy Capricorn influence in your life or not. Having a new moon at the beginning of the year with a "go get em'" attitude couldn't be better timing.

Thanks, astrology!

Another pro of this new moon is that it occurs on a Sunday, which most people will have off work. This makes it a great day to sit down and set your intentions for 2022. What do you want to accomplish? Where do you want to be by the end of the year; mentally, physically, emotionally?

Take some time to consider 3-5 things you want to accomplish in the new year. Make those goals specific, realistic, and posted somewhere where you can see them regularly. If you literally lose sight of your resolutions. you'll probably "lose sight" of your resolutions.

What am I planning for 2022? Well, I took a much-needed break from creating my own content. A break that unintentionally lasted about two and a half months-oops. I'm planning on sticking to a content schedule that's pre-planned and realistic, launching an online course for new freelance writers and publishing the accompanying book, and creating a monthly newsletter with thoughts, news, and resources for writers of all skill levels. If I'm feeling especially wild, I may crank out a serious amount of words for my fiction fantasy novel too.

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling good about 2022. I spent my holiday break closing out a journal and planner that served me well throughout the last year and it made me incredibly aware of how far I've come in the last year; in both my personal life and my career. 2021 served as a time for growth and a time for learning. 2022 is all about blooming-letting the flowers I planted last year show themselves off.

Happy new moon, and happy new year!
